Student, Investiture, Consecration Clases and Student Life Photographs 1898-1962

This series comprises approximately 372 black and white and sepia-toned photographs depicting various aspects of the training school for the Lutheran Deaconess Motherhouse located in Baltimore, Maryland. These photographs date from 1898-1962 and include images of deaconesses, probationers, and students enrolled in courses for Christian workers. Most of the photographs are group portraits, either posed or candid shots, of recently invested or consecrated deaconesses. In addition there are group portraits of school classes for various years. These school classes included invested deaconesses and students preparing for vocations as Christian workers. Many of the photographs are either identified or partially identified and most are dated. Also included in this series are images depicting students with faculty, student conferences, retreats, and general student life. Many of the prints are duplicates.
